Sabine Liebchen

Biography

Sabine Liebchen was born in Düsseldorf in 1960. Whilst still at school, she was able to interview the great German artist Gerhard Richter for a presentation, a formative experience for her future career. She went on to study visual communication at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, worked as an illustrator and art director and, since 1998, exclusively as a freelance artist. For several years now, she has been working intensively on the theme of the visibility of women, whom she paints exclusively from the back and side. The artist lives and works in Meerbusch near Düsseldorf.
